The Amazing Art of Eco Printing
Eco printing is a very new and exciting craft. Using only leaves and flowers from the garden, the most amazing prints and dyes can be achieved. At Suffolk Alpaca, you will learn this process, through laying your chosen leaves and flowers out on silk or paper, rolling them up or compressing them and then steaming or boiling to release the colour.
The Eco Printing Process
In this workshop you will start by creating a number of samples on silk using a variety of fresh and dried leaves from the garden so that you can see how the different types of leaves perform. You will then choose which leaves you want to use on your silk scarf. While the scarf is boiling, there is the opportunity to try printing on paper with leaves and flowers as these make wonderful cards. You are very welcome to bring your own flowers and leaves as well to experiment with. Just a warning though, it is a very experimental process so results can be disappointing as well as amazing!
